A nose of dried cherry, licorice, and blueberry and ripe flavors of mouth-coating strawberry and dried cherry. Our Bella Vigna label is curated from our Estate Pinot Noir vineyards primarily grown in the Sonoma Coast appellation. We wanted to create a blend that reflects the characteristics of our Estate vineyards and is still true to our Martinelli style. Bella Vigna translates to “Beautiful Vines”, and our winemaking team chose barrels that best denote the flavor profiles of our small, Pinot Noir vineyards combined.
Our Pinot Noirs show a sense of place by their range in depth, color and flavors. We grow Pinot Noir on our estate properties from the Fort Ross – Seaview AVA on the far Sonoma Coast, to the Green Valley of Russian River Valley in the Russian River Valley AVA. Having sites in all these locations allows us to create wines that specifically reflect the nuances of their terroir, giving us a variety of pinots to offer our fans.
About Martinelli
Farmers First Since the 1880s
The Martinelli Family has been farming their estate vineyards for over 135 years, continuing their rich history and making them 6th generation wine growers and farmers. Leno Martinelli was making wine at a very young age, and farming the family vineyards at the age of 12. Leno taught his son, Lee Sr., to make wine alongside him when Lee Sr. was just 5 years old. This tradition continued with Lee Sr. having his children tying vines, suckering, and picking apples at ages as young as 6 years old. A strong work ethic was the byproduct to the stewardship of the land as a way of life, a gift to provide for your family and a privileged obligation to the next generation. Many decades later, a few of Lee Sr. and Carolyn’s children and grandchildren are stilled happily involved in the farming and winery businesses on a daily basis.
