2018 Palacios La Montesa
Winemaker Notes
Named after a hillside vineyard located on the northeastern slope of the Yerga mountain in eastern Rioja, La Montesa is a blend of the indigenous grape varieties that grow on the Palacios Remondo estate. Described by winemaker Alvaro Palacios as ‘flowing wide in the mouth and possessing the wild strength of the mountain from which the wine hails,’ the 2015 La Montesa is incredibly well-balanced with velvety red-fruit notes and hints of sweet spice, orange peel and dulcet yellow peaches found both in the nose and on the palate.
An elegant wine with juicy-ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherries, edged by baking spice and wildflower/herbal notes. The palate is fresh and vibrant, balanced by soft tannins and a silky-smooth texture.

About Palacios
An ancient, spiritual and fascinating landscape.
A small universe of supernatural force.
El Priorat, the mineral essence of a unique Mediterranean.
In 1989 we arrived in this small region of crowded villages and centuries-old vineyards hanging from impossible slopes of slate.
The Escaladei Charterhouse developed the Priorat vineyard since the 12th century. Their presence forged a deep identity, preserved by the hard work of ancestral viticulture.
The steep soils of brittle slate, known as llicorella, are subjected to an extremely dry climate, illuminated by the mirror of the sea.
