Tasting Notes
Moderately dense garnet with purple. Very appealing, clean and youthful aroma of healthy, mature dark cherry and damson plum with faint spice notes. The wine is round, supple and medium bodied plus on the palate, thoroughly enjoyable now, and imparts a soft final impression with the barest touch of tannin. Modern in the best sense, L’Orangerie is an excellent entry-level red Bordeaux.
Blend: Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%)
About Château de L’Orangerie:
Established as a winemaking property back in 1790, Château L’Orangerie has kept up a rich winemaking tradition, now going back thru 8 generations of the Icard family. Sitting in the heart of the Entre-Deux-Mers, south of the town of Bordeaux, it is uniquely situated to produce great Red, White and Rose wines.
Their 250 acres consist mainly of chalk and clay over a sandy clay subsoil.
Sustainable agriculture is practiced throughout the property and they benefit from a most up to date winery.
