DESCRIPTION OF VALMAGGIORE

Mario Marengo's Nebbiolo d'Alba “Valmaggiore” is an elegant and refined red , which perfectly expresses the face of Nebbiolo from one of the most suitable areas of Roero. The light and loose soils, with an important sandy component, rich in marine fossils, give Nebbiolo a more subtle profile than the classic Langhe labels, giving the pleasure of a red of extreme finesse. It is an ideal label to be tasted with savory first courses or to combine with second courses based on roasted white meats or poultry.

The "Valmaggiore" is a Nebbiolo d'Alba produced by a winery based in the heart of the Langhe, in the area of La Morra, which has always been famous for the great Barolos. The deep knowledge of the Nebbiolo grape and the experience in its vinification led Mario Marengo in Roero, on the other bank of the Tanaro river, in search of territories of excellence. The Nebbiolo grapes come from the vineyards grown in the area of the Valmaggiore Additional Geographic Mention, in the municipality of Vezza d'Alba, one of the most popular crus in the Roero area. At the end of the manual harvest, the classic red vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins. The wine ages for about a year in French oak barriques and completes the refinement with a few months in the bottle before being put on the market.

Mario Marengo “Valmaggiore” is a beautiful version of the classic Piedmontese red, particularly suitable for those who love expressive refinement. At sight it has a ruby red color with slight garnet reflections. The nose is elegant and expresses delicate aromas of small red berries, raspberry, currant, cherry, nuances of medicinal herbs, dried flower petals , delicate hints of vanilla, licorice root and soft oriental spices. On the palate it is of medium structure, with a very fine tannic texture, well integrated with the fruit and accompanied by valuable facets of tertiary aromas. The finish is of good persistence, fresh and savory.
