WINEMAKERS NOTES AND VINIFICATION METHOD

White flower’s notes. White fruit notes and tropical such as pear, peach, apricot, lychees, pineapple and passion fruit.
The previously selected grapes were de-stemmed and slightly pressed. The extracted juice is decanted by gravity. It has then fermented in stainless steel vats with temperature control during approximately 15 days. Before bottling the wine is
previously filtered and stabilized.

About the Winery

In 1917, Lago Cerqueira founds the Caves da Calçada with the construction of a winery in the Casa. Casa da Calçada, moreover, has long been producing wines, and had a crown that tasted it: what is today the oldest vineyard in the region.

Lago Cerqueira presents itself as anything but traditional: it establishes new configurations of vineyards, and streamlines the wine business in order to be the first entrepreneur of Vinhos Verdes to export outside the country: namely, to Brazil.

The Vinhos Verdes region was already officially demarcated since 1908. This recognition marked the birth of Vinho Verde’s identity as a product with its own personality. Amarante has always been a major agricultural production hub, and wine production was not far behind: it was one of the first five sub-regions of the appellation of origin controlled near Monção, Lima, Basto and Braga.

SUSTAINABILITY

The fruit used for developing this blend was grown accordingly to the Portuguese Integrated sustainable Agriculture, which follows the guidelines defined by the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC) –
The strict following ofthese principals is certified by an independent entity (SATIVA) recognized by the Portuguese State.
FOOD PAIRING
Perfect alone as an aperitif or with light and fresh entrances. Ideal to match with sushi, pasta, pizza, fish, seafood and also Asiatic dishes in general.
