2023 Chimney Rock Elevage Blanc
Napa Green Certified
Tasting Notes
This wine dances with aromas of fresh peach and apricots along with hints of passion fruit, vanilla, and caramel. The front palate shows loads of stone fruit, followed by a rich and viscous mid-palate with a long a bright finish.
About Chimney Rock
In 2004, our family was fortunate to have the opportunity to acquire the Chimney Rock estate. Established in 1980 by Hack and Stella Wilson, they brought their love of wine and South African winery architecture to the Napa Valley. And since our acquisition and involvement, we have built on that foundation and advanced the quality of every aspect of the estate and its wines. We have worked hand-in-hand with our team to elevate Chimney Rock to its potential. Focusing on intelligent and sustainable farming and grape growing, along with a soft-handed and thoughtful approach to winemaking led by Winemaker, Elizabeth Vianna, we strive to allow the unique and magnificent Stags Leap District soil and fruit to show themselves in their best light. Through this thoughtful and sustainable approach, our estate has built a reputation for consistently crafting unique wines of exceptional quality that show a true sense of place.
Our vision and mission are to produce wines of exceptional quality that are capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with the great and important wines of the world. We continue to provide Elizabeth and her winemaking team with the vision, resources, and guidance to craft unique wines of this exceptional quality. Join us as our history continues to unfold.
Sustainability
Of the 100 oldest businesses in the world, 10 of them are wineries. Family ownership and caring for the land allows for this type of longevity. As such, sustainability requires a long-term perspective — one that we fully embrace. We view ownership and participation in terms of generations. As stewards of the land, management of our certified green estate, with minimal impact, is of paramount importance. At Chimney Rock, it is this responsibility that guides our viticulture and winemaking processes.
Our practices include:
-
Napa Green Certified
-
100% solar powered
-
Recycled water for vineyard irrigation used for over a decade
-
Integrated pest management – a combined biological, cultural, and natural chemical approach to pest management that minimizes environmental and health risks.
-
The use of cover crops planted between vineyard rows to help improve soil health.
-
Fostering predatory bird inhabitants to help with rodent control
