Winemaker Notes

On the nose, this Pinot Noir offers spicy aromas with layers of cranberry, cherry cola and violet. It is smooth and rounded on the palate with great acidity – displaying notes of red licorice, black cherry and roasted nuts followed by a lengthy finish. Refined and well-structured, with expressive raspberry and rose petal aromas that open to densely layered cherry, stony mineral and black tea flavors, building tension toward fine-grained tannins.

Individual barrels are selected from our small-production ‘Single Vineyard’ Pinot Noir program with the intention of seamlessly bringing together 4 distinct ‘Terroirs’ to create a unique bottling of ‘Willamette Valley’ Pinot Noir. Each vineyard block is fermented separately in small batches with native yeasts before resting in French oak barrels for 10 months. Each spring, Winemaker
Bryan Weil selects individual barrels from each vineyard block to create a beautifully expressive and balanced version of ‘Willamette Valley’ Pinot Noir.

About Alexana Winery

Alexana Winery was born of Dr. Madaiah Revana’s love of the great wines of Burgundy. In the spring of 2005, Dr. Revana began a search for both the ideal region and an experienced winemaker with the goal of producing Pinot Noirs that could rival those from Burgundy. His search ended in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Alexana is named after Dr. Revana’s daughter, Alexandra.

Diverse soils

Dr. Revana acquired an 80-acre property located in the Dundee Hills American Viticultural Area. Known for its distinct geography and diverse micro-climates, the Dundee Hills is one of the most widely recognized premium Pinot Noir producing AVAs in Oregon. Alexana Wines are a reflection of Oregon’s cool grape-growing climate and have become known for their elegance, balance and character.
