Winemaker Notes
Exhibiting a nose of dark cherry and blackcurrant, nuanced with notes of creosote, graphite, cloves and vanilla. This dense and full-bodied wine is layered from the start and finished with powerful coating tannins. This wine has an incredible oily texture and a multi-dimensional structure with amazing balance, power and sophistication – it is sure to age gracefully for years.
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot
About Melka Estates
Founded in 1996 by Cherie and Phillipe Melka, with the drive to create wines that express the voice of the soil.
Four distinctly different labels have developed from this passion over the past 20 years.
CJ – An acronym for our two by children Chloe & Jeremy, the inspiration for creating this wine was to have a fun project that was youthful in spirit with vibrant fruit. The first vintage of CJ was in 1996, the year Jeremy was born, and it was a mere 200 cases. Today, our annual production is a consistent 1,500 cases and it is crafted from select vineyards in the Napa Valley where we have sourced superior Cabernet grapes. CJ is meant to be enjoyed young but also has proven to age at least ten to fifteen years.
