Tasting Notes

Agiorgitiko is the red grape of Nemea, arguably Greece’s most important red wine appellation, where it produces silky smooth, fruit-packed reds with a velvety finish. Aged for up to 8 months in oak and then a further 6 months rest in bottle before release the Agiorgitiko by Gaia shows intense aromatic finesse evolving from ripe berries and gooseberry through to caramel and discreet oak nuances. Soft tannins underline a rich, well structured velvety body. Characterized by ripe fruit notes and balanced oak flavors our Agiorgitiko by Gaia can be aged 2-4 years after release and will evolve a velvety and complex wine.

Food Pairing – red meat dishes that are rich, intense and spicy.

About Gaia Wines

GAIA WINES was founded in 1994 by Leon Karatsalos and Yiannis Paraskevopoulos.

Thalassitis, a Santorini A.O.C. white wine, inaugurated the company’s first appearance, and quickly won a place in the Greek wine market. The 9,800 numbered bottles of Thalassitis in 1994, rapidly rose to more than 100,000 in 1999, all the while maintaining its commitment to quality.

In 1996 GAIA WINES acquired a private vineyard in Koutsi region of Nemea, along with a perfectly equipped winery of a total capacity of 3.000hl.
