Tasting Notes:

The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a spice box of a wine, opening with a burst of
camphor and dried flowers, giving way to crushed blackberries, sage and cloves.
This is surprisingly energetic and racy in style. Vibrant acidity propels depths of
dark red fruits and inner floral as salty minerals saturate. The 2019 finishes
structured and long yet still lively, leaving violet inner florals and hints of currant
to taper off slowly. The combination of power, depth and energy makes this
impossible to ignore.

About Livio Sassetti:

For over a century the Sassetti family has farmed some of Montalcino’s finest vineyards.  The property is nestled on a slope in the Montosoli hill, North of Montalcino, reputed one of the most favorable terroirs for Sangiovese.

Today the estate is managed by Lorenzo Sassetti, Livio’s son, fourth generation family member and passionate winemaker, that is upholding the family name and reputation with the enthusiastic support of his wife Sabina.  Over the years, Lorenzo has dedicated himself to the renewal and expansion of the vineyards, preserving the genetic heritage of the vines as well as their unique characteristics. Following the family tradition, Lorenzo runs the winery in a sustainable manner, adopting practices that minimize human intervention in the vineyards.

Moved by a strong interest in winemaking he decided to approach different styles acquiring two properties in Italy’s finest wine-producing areas, rising Tuscan Maremma and lively Valdobbiadene.  All of Lorenzo’s wines have deep roots in their respective terroirs, showcasing his willingness to preserve their traditional features.
