Winemaker Notes
The 2019 Cantenac Brown is a brilliant wine from José Sanfins and his team. Unwinding in the glass with deep aromas of wild berries, licorice, loamy soil, burning embers and violets, it’s medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered, with terrific concentration, beautifully refined tannins and a seamless, elegant profile. Given its quality, this remains somewhat under the radar and is well worth a special effort to seek out. Best after 2027.

About Château Canteanc Brown
At the beginning of the 19th century, when John-Lewis Brown (1769-1851) acquired the estate. He chose to build a Tudor-style castle in the town of Cantenac which would remind him of his Scottish origins.
The castle, among the most original in Médoc, is surrounded by a remarkable English-style park.
The Bordeaux merchant, owner of several castles in Médoc, Louis Armand Lalande (1820-1894), enlarged and enriched the building while retaining the English Renaissance architecture.
The 1855 classification will recognize the quality of its wines as Third Grand Cru Classé.
At the end of 2019, the Le Lous family took the reins of this gem of the Margaux appellation
… And continues the work of qualitative excellence carried out by its predecessors.
José Sanfins is still leading this new project, promoting this magnificent terroir with the greatest respect for the soil, the vines and its environment. Driven by new investments, this ambition fits precisely into each of the stages of wine making, producing vintage after vintage one of the best Margaux wines.
