Winemaker Notes

Bright red-berry aromas here with some herbal, tea and chalk notes. Lavender, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Complex, yet restrained, with a mineral, almost dusty feel. Roses are sweetened by bright red cherry, cinnamon sugar, and spiced cranberry. Burgundian in style, a soft shoe dance, light-hearted, with lovely acidity and a velvet entrance and exit.

Food Parings – lamb, duck, grilled fish

James Suckling 92 Points

About Schug

At Schug we are proud to carry on our family’s 100-year-old tradition of hand-crafted Pinot Noir.  From our roots in Germany and now as 30-year stewards of the land at our Carneros Estate, we follow in the footsteps of our father and founder, winemaking pioneer Walter Schug.  By honoring our decades-old, handshake commitments with local farmers throughout Sonoma County, coupled with techniques handed down through the generations, we make wines known the world over for their grace and balance.  We hope they find a place on your table, in meals with family and friends, creating memories that share in the Heritage passed on from our Mom & Dad.  With each cork we pull, each bottle we pour, we hope we make them proud.
