TASTING NOTES

The 2012 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nomade Malbec is sourced from a different place each year, and in this occasion the grapes were selected from Vista Flores in the Valle de Uco, from the Finca Los Carolinos at 1,100 meters altitude. The destemmed grapes fermented in 6,500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts and had a post fermentative maceration of 45 days. This time the amount of new oak has been reduced to 80% from 100%, and the élevage time shortened to 16 months (from 18). The wine is still quite oaky after all this time. 2012 was a ripe vintage, and you notice it if you taste it next to more recent, cooler years. It provided the wine with a heady, ripe profile, but without much excess. The influence of the oak seems to be softer, it’s spicy and smoky, but the fruit comes through more clearly, juicy and with elegant tannins, vibrant and elegant within the style. 1

Food Pairing –  grilled or roasted meats like beef or lamb, quail stuffed with sausage, or any other great meat combo you can dream up.

About Susana Balbo Family Winery

We are a family winery located at the los andes foothills in the town of agrelo, luján de cuyo, mendoza province.

In 1999, with almost two decades dedicating her talent to national and international companies in the wine business working as a consultant, Susana Balbo decided to make her dream of having a winery of her own come true and that was the moment Susana Balbo Wines put down roots in the heart of Luján de Cuyo Mendoza as Argentina’s first female winemaker! After more than ten years of steady growth in foreign markets, another one of her dreams was fulfilled: her children, José, winemaker graduated from UC Davis (California) and Ana, Bachelor of Business Administration from University San Andrés (Buenos Aires) decided to go on with the family tradition and join Susana Balbo Wines team.

During the last years, Susana and her team have been working tirelessly on meeting the international highest quality standards and have showed their commitment to some of the major issues of the 21st century: food safety, environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
