Winemaker Notes

With its signature ruby red hue and purple tinges, Le Volte dell’Ornellaia displays lively red fruit aromas alongside light spiciness.  bright and youthful fruit with dark cherry, cassis, spice and red rose. This wine is composed of Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. You feel the acidity of the Italian grape and the rich fruit from the two French varietals. The wine is tonic and tight with mid-weight intensity. This is the entry-level red from one of Italy’s most iconic estates. The wine is well balanced across all components on the palate, blending smooth tannins with refreshing acidity that lends crunchiness to this enjoyable wine.

Food Pairings – A versatile wine in terms of food pairings as it goes well with cured meats, lamb, beef, veal and even chicken.

THE FRESCOBALDI FAMILY

For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany’s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region.

At the high point of medieval Florence, the Frescobaldis spread their influence as bankers, earning the title of treasures to the English crown. A little later, with the flowering of the Renaissance, they became patrons of major works in Florence, such as the construction of the Santa Trinita bridge and the Basilica of Santo Spirito. For generations creativity and a quest for excellence have inspired the Frescobaldi family.

They want the family estates, with their vineyards, to be the expression of diversity and for the wines to reflect each individual terroir, respecting their nature and authenticity.

And lastly, diversity is cultivated in the Renaissance of the arts and of men: with the sponsorship of the “Artists for Frescobaldi” project and the social responsibility of the rehabilitation of the prisoners of Gorgona Island.
