Tasting Notes

Only 560 cases produced! Our 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from our Howell Mountain Estate and Rutherford Dust Estate vineyards. This dark crimson wine has an excellent depth of color. Generous aromas show a harmony of fruit and oak seamlessly melded together. A full and even palate, the marriage of fruit and oak continues with red and black fruit, caramel, and savory characters. The concentrated, dense texture finishes with fine cocoa powdered tannins. Nuances of mint and notes reminiscent of cedar and sandalwood add complexity.

About Neal Family Vineyards

Mark Neal has been walking and working organic vineyards almost daily for over 54 years. In 1966, he started as a farmer working alongside his parents on their Napa Valley farm. His love of the land, working with family, and producing small batches of wines was instilled early by his father.

This upbringing of growing organic grapes inspired him, in 1998, to build Neal Family Vineyards, which is wholly owned, farmed, and operated by his family, a rarity in the winemaking world. Today, working beside several of his children, he handcrafts exquisite and complex Cabernet Sauvignon from his estate’s biodynamic and certified organic vineyards in Howell Mountain and Rutherford.

Mark Neal is considered the most prominent organic and biodynamic farmer in Napa Valley and currently farms the most significant certified organic acreage, 841 acres, as the owner of both Jack Neal and Son Vineyard Management (JNS) and Neal Family Vineyards. Additionally, he’s consulting with a notable wine management group on the transition of 450 conventionally farmed acres to certified organic. Over the years, Mark has collected generational knowledge working alongside his father, developed tools for precise farming and viticulture needs, and invented technological tools that result in the most elegant and complex wines. Mark has worked in the wine business since 1966, and during that time, he’s assembled passionate teams at both JNS and Neal Family Vineyards that now include four of his children. Mark is the true definition of a vigneron.
